I see your point Kre8tiv.
Maybe they didn't want to risk it in the newsprint or Budget restrictions. But what is the budget restriction in the Mega? They're paying for it anyway, Full color or not! Right?
Anyway, I guess we're both agreeing that it's better in coolor!

Ok, P since you insist on asking me.. well why not? for creative’s sake.

1-I totally agree with you on this one that it should be in colors. BUT with certain restrictions on the budgeting side, we are forced to come up with another solution (which is a part of our job as creatives).. So here’s the equation: -color = bigger size+frequency/insertions, which is better for more exposure. Besides I dont like colors on newsprint because the colors aren’t controllable..you know what I mean.

2- I don’t think so. Because Ive seen an ad in D&AD for a furniture where they used a chair as an L for the word Elegance it was done years ago. Basically for the sale ad, they’ll all look the same because its the same concept: SALE at the end of the day, they just have to be differentiated with whatever product they use whether a chair, a leg with a shoe, or a humungous percentage figure. Besides, here with this ad, the chair was flipped to form a 7.. so it’s different from L in ikea, pretty clever..

3- I don’t like it. There’s a whole lot of new approaches for a sale ad.. I think these concepts are long been done and overdone.. nothing fresh.

-with regards to what i’m saying, I don’t call it contradictions because I am not static to my cause.. It all depends on the subject or situation..I have to be flexible..in which I have to reply exactly to what the conversation is requiring based on my thoughts and views.Well of course we as creatives have to push for the envelopes, not our egos..

Kre8tiv, I was serious with the questions. It wasn't a personal attack! Sorry if you felt it was bu it's not!
My point is that they were right saying that it should've been in Full color instead of B/W; Don't you agree?
As for the IKEA ad, I haven't seen it, so it won't hurt to ask if it's true what they were talking about!
As for my final point, yes there was a contradiction with what you were saying.
We all want to get our creative work out, but do we get to? With all the effort to convince the client with our creative, are we always successful?
My answer is HELL NO! Clients here feel that they're more creative than the agency and feel that their layout is best, so they will kill your layout even without really looking at it!
Don't you agree?

kre8tiv... just a couple of questions for clarification purposes:

1- Do you agree that it should've been done in color or not?
2- Do you think the ad idea was previously done by IKEA with the "L" in "Sale" or not?
3- Do you like the ad or not? If Yes, why? If No, Why Not?

That's the whole point of this discussion...

3- Don't you see a little contradiction in what you're saying? Here you said that all your ads are being manipulated by so many people, thus ruining your creative genius... And on the Car Ad post, you attacked Long John and told him that you've been imposing your creative work without letting the Client change it. Here you say we're in KUWAIT and we should accept such work, and there you're saying that all your creative work is being released untouched.

You guys speak as if you knew advertising very well.. Imagine yourself working with difficult clients and proposing your genius creatives.. come one people.. wake up.. you are in KUWAIT.. very hard to get good creatives to get through unless you try to create a PUN, SCAM or publish it yourself.. without the client having it approved..Grow up! These things you see in the press or outdoors were basically manipulated by account mnagers, marketing managers or clients without any or whatsoever knowledge in CREATIVE advertising as you've said..
