Comment of the Day !

mark: [on Infinity of Toys]

Ok we need to make things a bit more interesting.

I called mindeshare and they are going to get me the release dates of ALL the ads that were shortlisted and won in Dubai Lynx. BUT, we need to make a bet Louai if you’ve got the balls.

You can’t go around accusing people of ghost work and then expect us to go through the hassle of getting YOU the release dates while you sit back and point fingers. You need to lose something (other than dignity and credibility) if you turn out to be wrong so what are we going to make a bet on?

If I provide you with proof that everything we sent to the Dubai Lynx was real and released (including the tvcs), what do we get from you?

This way next time you at least have a bit of decency to think before you run around accusing everyone of releasing ghost work instead of just realizing that the market has in fact progressed to the level where the work is great AND real while you are still stuck in the past with your anti smoking press ad.

You kinda remind me of 99.7 which still plays New Kids on the Block on air… we are all soooooooo passed that.

What about have Louai carry a sign that says “Mark Makhoul of JWT, I am sorry for my false accusations, I admit I’m [m]…. I just needed your attention” hahahahahahaaaaaaaah!

  2. mark

    lol we’re getting there.

  3. kre8tive

…. and make him wear his Picasso hat with a long cigar stick, [M]? How’s that for a start, Mark?

  4. a2b

keep this bet away from personal attacks

  5. Zeid Nasser

Well, this is a discussion I’m going to watch.

I met Loaui at the DubaiLynx, seemed like a pleasant fellow :)

  6. adchemist

Me too met him at Dubai lynx, “FASHION PARADE” you know what i mean;) NASSER

  7. kre8tive

Best thing to do here is to I-G-N-O-R-E Louai….. Don’t believe the Hype!

  8. Funny thing Cre8tive…you attack me on these blogs then you e-mail me several copy cat ads and ask me to post them with you as the reference!!!!

  9. Louai,

These are some from Again, my collections of COFFEE STAINS:

    Coffee Stain/Smiley face from Europe.
Coffee Stain Boat in Circle from Latin America (Nescafe)
Coffee Stain/Smiley from Kuwait (Coffee Bean) by B Communications

CopyCat or Not…. It’s your problem now :-)

    Cheers!

  10. mark

Good to see you here Louai, so what are we going to bet on????

  11. I am going to bet that:

1- Your ghost ads will NOT win at the 2008 KAAA.

2- The Dubai Lynx will give you a call…very soon.

3- That you have no shame at all. ghost ads, copy cat ads, and still boosting and challanging!!!!!! i guss JWT are lucky to have you.

  12. jayson

    i smell blood :)

  13. Oh yeah….

  14. mark

Louai could you please stick to the topic and not weasel your way out of this.

You clearly stated that the work we submitted to the Dubai Lynx was ghost work. I am telling you then lets make a bet on it. If I provide proof that ALL the work we submitted to the Dubai Lynx was real, what will you do?

Its a very clear challenge so don’t try and bullshit your way out of this. You clearly have two choices here, either:

    a) accept the challenge and we will have an interesting bet
    or
    b) back out and admit you’re full of shit

To me so far it looks like you’re going to go with option b

  15. kre8tive

    Louai go with OPTION C.

  16. mark

I will give you one proof since its the most obvious one anyway.

We won gold at the Dubai Lynx for the zain interactive campaign which was when we had teasers on blogs and web banners telling people to check itsthefastestever.com campaign on a certain date at a certain time for a special offer. Proof that this actually did take place and it wasn’t ghost:

    http://somecontrast.com/2007/11/10/zain-another-surprise/
    http://www.248am.com/mark/interesting/its-the-fastest-ever/
    http://vbulletin.kwtmac.com/showthread.php?t=659

And you can check the date the domain was purchased here
    http://www.whois.ws/whois-com/itsthefastestever.com/

So one down and more to go. Just tell me what we will bet on so I can share with everyone the rest.

  17. mADman

Ive been to Anubis (Louai’s Lair) funny is that he judge every single ad or piece there (which I found unethical)… work’s being slaughtered big time… I agree on some but not in most cases, it’s like Louai is so desperate. calling those ads “ghosts” and making his own definitions of “published” OMG. But my buck still stops on Louai, Mark.

  18. kre8tive

It is his blog, you idiot!!! He can do whatever he wants there y’know… Let’s just hope he won’t go too far, well, good luck to him on banging his head on a brick wall! BTW, Lou.. I’d still be sending you “coincidence” stuff!! >outta here<

  19. mark

Well this is why I am here stating very clearly above that I will provide Louai proof that ALL our work we submitted to the Dubai Lynx are in fact real work that has been released. But as you can see Louai doesn’t want to put anything on the line because he knows that when he mouths off its not based on facts or research but just total ignorance.

All it would have taken Loaay was a phone call to any media booking company or IPSOS to find out if our work had been released or not. Thats not his style though, he picks up the latest issue of Bazaar every month and if he doesn’t see an ad there then he assumes it was never released

  20. :) how bazaar!!! for Tiba ads…we are still waiting for the media vehicle name, date, issue number, anything! if you had it really published why have you not shared this information with everyone?!!!!

Ass for butt naked PETA ads no need for anyone to bother calling up IPSOS…this is KUWAIT not SOHO London :) and they never ran, never will, not even in a 1,000,000 years. this is a conservative country [m]

  21. sorry i did not mean to call you 7mar; i ment to say that you are full of yourself (ya3ni full of shit bel englizi ya tizi)

  22. mark

Louai are you name calling? Is that the level you’ve stooped down to? First you falsely accuse my agency of sending ghost work to the Lynx and now you are calling me 7mar? Come on, I would expect a bit more professionalism from you. .

Do you know what a bet means, in Arabic it means “sharet”

I am saying all the ads we sent to the Lynx were released
    You are saying they weren’t

So lets make a bet (sharet). If I am right what do I get?

If you don’t want to make a bet then take back what you said about our work being ghost work and admit you were wrong.

  23. mark

ads2blog why did you remove Louai’s insult towards me, let everyone read what he said and see how low his attacks have become. Yanni 3aib, yeret he was like a 14 year old teenager at least he would have an excuse for his immaturity.

  24. mark

You know what, I think you’ve already done enough damage to yourself Louai with your last post so I will give you another bonus, the last time the Taiba Hospital Colorblind ads were released were in the Ahlan Magazine, March issue and S World Magazine also March issue. Everyone is free to check.

Ooops seems like you’re falling deeper and deeper into the hole you dug Louai ;)

  25. cause and effect mark….when you say someone is full of shit…what would you expect in return? flowers!!!!!

  26. mark

Yeah but the difference is I was stating a fact not an opinion ;)

  27. kre8tive

Does that mean you guys are at peace now? What happened to the bet?

  28. long john

    imagine if they had guns!!!

  29. kre8tive

well, if they do have guns then we all be dead by now…. no more Ads2Blog!!! LMAO

  30. The one

Comment: Mark: You’re saying that the Hospital campaign ran in Magazines.
Can you share the media plan? What is the media strategy behind it?
I disagree with Louai on the ads being ghosts, but I strongly believe that they were made specifically for the awards show. Otherwise, why not run them in press, and for more than one or two insertions?
Ghost ads or not, let’s not stop at the vocabulary, these hospital ads are fake. Nevertheless, a big Bravo guys, I would have done the same to release these great ads.
So let’s cut the crap, Louai you would have done the same.

  31. no i would not have done the same…never

“it is not creative if it dont sell” ;)

    did it sell?

  32. one more thing…everyone is invited to the ACT responsible expo on the 27th of April 2008 @ 7:00 Fanar art gallery, 1st floor.

    coffee is on me ;)

  33. kre8tive

Who’s gonna be there, Louai? What’s gonna happen there?

  34. you can enjoy a free coffee (Nespreso); a free t-shirt (bloganubis) and see truly great ads from around the world as exhibited at the Dubai Lynx and Cannes Lions as well as meet more advertising people ;)

i am inviting everyone before the ads hit the press.

  35. and just for the record, or for the bet, or to save Mark and mindshare the effort, or simply for the facts:

    Tiba Hospital:

Tiba Hospital “Spiderman” was published for the first - and only time - in “Layalina” magazine on the 23rd of February, 2008.

Tiba Hospital “Frog” was published for the first - and only time - in “S World” monthly magazine on the 1st of March, 2008.

Tiba Hospital “Ninja tortoise” was published for the first - and only time - in “Ahalan” magazine on the 1st of March, 2008.

All of the above artworks cannot be considered as ads - since the client neither paid for their creation nor for their publication.

Notice the actual Tiba Hospital ads (as published in the newspapers) and compare it to these fake ads. Also pay attention to the deadline eligibility for entering work into the Dubai Lynx Awards.

    PETA:

The Only PETA ads that ever ran in the state of Kuwait where the following:

    1. “Layalina” on the 23rd of February, 2008 “Sofa artwork”.

    2. “S World” on the 1st of March, 2008 “Brown Sofa artwork”.

The “other” PETA ads NEVER ran in Kuwait due to the censorship laws in Kuwait.

    :)

  36. kre8tive

So Louai, you mean to say that it’s a fake? And how could you discredit them for entering the awards since they did run? Is the “client-has-to-pay-the-ad-and-has-to-be released-frequently-in-the-press” thing a requirement from entering awards now? What’s your benchmark on this? I think you’re just going overboard here, I’m not against you nor with Mark or anything but I find you going out of context, it makes me feel like you hate creative works or people who create real good work…. (correct me if i’m wrong) sorry dude but my bet is on Mark now :-)

With everyone else here in this blog, I just want you to make your point more clear.

    - My cup of tea

  37. kre8tive

…And by the way, on the 27th of April, count me in… I will be there :-)

  38. RO

    “Louai Alasfahani

no i would not have done the same…never

“it is not creative if it dont sell” ;)

    did it sell?”

Sorry Louai, it seems that u dont really follow what you preach. How else could you explain the unapproved logo for Taiba Hospital published in Logo Lounge Vol 4 (page 155), designed by your firm. By your beliefs, your work shouldn’t have even been sent to logo lounge for review since it didn’t sell.

Anyone in the business would know that all creative work doesn’t necessarily have to sell, especially here in Kuwait.

  39. mADman

Louai, before you bark at other peoples’ dirt I think you should wipe off yours first. I just hope you’d understand the REAL and TRUE definition of “published”, “preach” and “sell” ;) and pls get rid of that picasso hat with the cigar… be ORIGINAL :-P

  40. mark

Louai I guess you lost the bet since as you just mentioned with the dates the ads were released and approved by the client so they were not ghost work.

The PETA ads of the peoples backs were not entered in the Dubai Lynx, the sofa ones are the ones that we entered. All our ads that were entered and won in the Dubai Lynx were published and released as I have been saying from the beginning while you naively accused us of lying.

So since you chickened out from making a bet you could at least post a retraction and an apology to show everyone here you are not immature and ignorant.

  41. Bravoooooo mark; but you and i (and the client) know the truth ;) so if i were you - i would leave it at that and be carefull the next time you design an ad for the USA :p

  42. Louai, your BIG agency is messing around with JWT. you better know that. JWT does not steal, nor do fake ads, ghosts. JWT is the United States largest and world’s fourth largest advertising agency.

an attitude and name calling bel msharma7i like yours will gain you nothing but hate, I know Mark doesn’t like me neither care. but JWT is not only Mark and is Mark at the same time, and he gives a good impression about a passionate person about his work.

Mashallah, when we have people with such attitude in KREA or whatever awards judges… I can predict a GOOD future for advertising in Kuwait.

Grow up, show us creative work from Paragon instead of bashing creative agencies such as Pencil, JWT and the rest.

P.S: you need to stop using Photoshop 7 for creating your ads, get the CS3 package.

I’m not going to read your replies on this nor check it again, it sickens me. I wanted to throw a racist comment towards, but you know what… Khalleha b nefsak!

  43. mark

Louai I think you have problems understanding the English language. You lost the argument so apologize already. What a loser.

You accused us of sending ghost ads to the award, I proved to you that you were wrong and the ads were in fact released, say sorry or keep quiet but stop sounding like an airhead.

  44. Mark, I’ve just “noticed” that you’re a good debater :D ! I didn’t visit ads2blog in ages (but I visit 2:48AM a lot though ;) ) ! so anyway, how’s London @ April?

  45. Abstract

    WOaw! what a discussion! i seriously cant wait to get into the design field here >.<…s a r c a s m

    boys grow up pls
