better than your ipod advert man .. but that doesn't mean it rocks..
thinking like a client :-
- kuwait does not have peep holes. cause they use intercoms due to villas. your target market is of the high/medium class who are willing to invest their money.. again people who live in villas in kuwait.
-peepholes are never white, oh sorry thats the creative license ;) the max ull get is a lit dot.
Back to being a creative or zoro as louai calls me
the concept is cool, well done …

Louai here you like it and on adblogarabia you bash it? :S

Louai Alasfahani
Here I like it there I like it but on adblogarabia the focus is more on the work rather than personal insults.
what I did is cut out the comments made by your friends (on our Ramadan Crescent ads) which were less than fair and applied them to a similar scenario with an Ramadan Crescent ad (which happened to be yours) to see if the same kind of advices/insults would be applied – in other words to make it clear that they are not interested in the work or the improvement of advertising they just want to blow off steam, take out their inner frustrations because they know deep down that they are hopeless and helpless in this industry that requires talented sharp minds.
NB. The experiment worked ;)

Moey, just for the record I gave this artwork 4 stars.
You can check with the administrator and if you want to talk about this ad or anything else just give me a call and I will be happy to have that conversation.

Okay, let me shred this out.
1- Looks like a student work, NO, like an account executive's powerpoint presentation.
2- Crescent, again? Oh my! What do you know? It's Leo Burnett's turn.
3- Peeping hole? What does that represent? What is the relation with Global? Peeping?! Naughty naughty.
4- Door? A Blue door? Does that say something in business?
5- Overall, looks like a last minute-take-away job, why the rush?
Seriously, this doesn't make it for me. Just my opinion and not intending to blow some steam. There's 1001 ways to come up with a Ramadan greeting not using a crescent and in a more creative manner.
What do you think Louai?
Happy Eid, Creative People!!!

Kre8tive…show us an example…just one…even if it is not your own work so that you don’t blow your cover :)
A single example of a Ramadan print ad or OOH that is creative (in your own opinion) which doesn’t feature a crescent. That could bring this debate to an end.
Happy Mushroom Eid.

What The Maaan
Wataniya and Zain ads had no crescents. so mr secretary u might need to keep an eye out for the work that is being done in the industry.
Louai, its really sad .. how you cant take things professionally yet everything is personal. i wonder how people work with you.. and if you are some sort of manager or decision mmaker (which i really hope ur not) i dont know how fair u can be, giving raises to the employees ..
just a side note..
the best creatives, are who are credited in award winning work. why ? cause an internatiional jurry said so.. that a side .. have you won an award other than kuwait ? dont tell me the local award shows, cause simply they are not up to the standard and the work that wins in the local award shows is not even close to regional/international standard. so.. what did u win ? how good are you mr. secretary ? do you even know the difference between, european advertising, indian advertising, and american advertising ? wake up man .. wake the F&^7 up.. u better see things from the right angles instead of being an outdated old kharoof..
advertising in kuwait is becoming better, this years ads are way better than last years.. the amount of ads this year is way way more than last year as well.. NOT CAUSE OF IAA ! cause of the competition & media prices.. so all you know louai, stay static, just talk like a puppet.. while ur opportunities to be a real creative pass by you ..
zozo zoro <– this is the creative juice of louai naming me zozo zoro lol

Louai, your comment just shows how much of an idiot you are. I'm sorry but don't you think you should have that teeny weeny of a common sense? You see, you don't have to rely always on Lateral thinking to make a creative ad like relying on a crescent to communicate Ramadan, you have to have the INSIGHT in order to get through the idea, Not because it's Ramadan, you'll settle with a crescent, not because it's Eid, you'll setlle with fireworks! You have to have that message! Okay, if you still don't get it, let me give you examples of Ramadan/Eid Ads that doesn't use crescents and the likes, and hopefully end up this silly conversation with you:
1- Anyone remember the Levi's ad made by Ogilvyone Indonesia that shows a tight shot of a denim but when you look deeper, you'd see muslims praying?
2- The Nando's Ramadan TVC? Where the dude waits for the setting of the sun to get off that bite.
3- The Evening post ad, where they show a chalk drawing of a plate with a fork and knife drawn on a road? Where the message says, give to needy this holy month.
4- The McDonald's Ad where they ignore the golden rule of including a crescent.
5- and so on…..
Also, it is important to have a different message than "Ramadan Kareem", Think, think, think!
KA-BOOM!

What the F#@k… This is just for you
let’s see where shall I begin….
24 International Summit Creative Awards.
Two short lists in the Dubai Lynx and two more at the MENA Crystal.
Work featured in several International books; correct me if I am wrong but no other agency form Kuwait has been featured in any international book, ok except BBDO which is mentioned in Joe Le Pompe book which is not something to be proud of ;) the book titles are the following:
1- The complete Graphic Designer.
2- Identity Crises. (One of only fifty case studies from around the world and the only one from the Middle East) by the corporate identity guru Jeff Fisher… I doubt if you heard of him…as you were probably too busy picking your nose or licking your boss behind for a raise while your boss was licking mine for attention.
3- The Best of Business Card Design.
4- Logo Lounge 4.
5- Really Good Logos Explained (only 500 logos from around the world – that would be everything outside your little hole in the wall).
6- Letterhead & Logo Design 9.
7- One more is in the printing press as I write this…go learn your ABC’s so that you can learn to read something useful.
I have been elected as a Judged and have judged creativity awards for 4 consecutive years (and I’m still warming up).
I have been elected Secretary General for the IAA (I was also a founding member) whiles your friends were throwing chalk at you in the class room and making fun of your name.
I was asked and have contributed several articles as well as interviews by each of the following on numerous occasions: Arab Ad, Campaign, Communicate, GMR, Tasweek Al Arabi, , Bite, AME Info, Ad Week, Aswaq, Awraq and many more.
I have been asked to lecture several times at the Kuwait University…and I did.
but don’t take my word for it instead Google “Louai Alasfahani” and see what you get as a result then Google yourself (whatever your name is) then deduct the outcome of both figures and you will see exactly how much I am better than you :)
You are a nobody that is why you are afraid of me. You want to become me but you can’t as you are a sheep in cheep clothes. You talk big yet you don’t even have the guts to reveal yourself to me (not that anyone would know you…or care) but perhaps it’s because you will get a whipping. So stop poisoning others with your stupid ideas and silly theories and work for a living…and keep your eyes on my blog so that you can admire your work.
NB. As per your request I have not mentioned the KREA local awards or the KAAA regional awards.

What The Maaan
Well it seems like your looking for a job posting ur cv here lol.. just kidding.. want me to hook you up mr.kharoof ? ;)
Well good for you having urself in some of these books, best business card ? logo lounge ? lets put that aside and congratulate you on being an international graphic designer according to five books (gouchie .. gouchiee gouuuu…i see that smile on ur face).
Yet these are books, biased to their writers and not to a jury that awarded you recognition, so when you win an award come and fill this blog with ur pride, and go on ur ego trip. Until then you are just like any one of us, even though u see yourself as a mentor, sorry to say U WISH.
regardless of your bull-full CV posted earlier. your website is a COPY PASTE FROM joelapompe
yeah folks..
The preacher who preaches not to copy and paste, not to imitate has a blog which comes originally from joelapompe. he himself had copy and pasted the concept of another website .. isnt that imitation mr. secretary general of Kuwait chapter ? mr. alasfahani ?

what about you read this, this time and learn from it ::
Lateral Thinking: When a low probability line of thought leads to an effective idea, there is a “Eureka” moment and at once the low-probability approach acquires the highest probability. – Edward De Bono. Excerpt from a book by John Townsend & Jacques Favier titled The Creative Manager’s Pocketbook. Page: 2. ISBN: 1-870471-69-5.
A copycat is a person that mimics or repeats the behavior of another. The term is often derogatory, suggesting a lack of originality. The expression may derive from kittens that learned by imitating the behaviors of their mothers. – Wikipedia.
Plagiarism: The abuse of another’s original work by copying it and passing it off as one’s own. As defined in Alastair Campbell book titled The Designer’s Lexicon. Page: 293 ISBN: 0-304-35505-4.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of thievery” excerpt from a book by Capsule titled Design Matters. Page: 84. ISBN -13:978-1-59253-341-1.
if your lucky enough.. no one will google ur name and find out about ur copy/paste/imitated website from this honest and unbiased post..

These are a few? Well, these are for GRAPHIC DESIGNERS and light weights, my Firend :-) And NOT for Creative Director (?) like you. Just for the benefit of the doubt, IF you are the best Creative Kuwait has ever had, Then WHY CAN'T YOU COME UP with an innovative and creative Ramadan Ad? Also to add it up, YOU are toooo amateur for all the "titles" and "recognitions" that you brag about. I pity IAA for making the wrong decision of electing you, You could be a great administrator – to be fair :-)) And for the fact that me poisoning the minds of others here, I AM NOT… I am just plainly talking sense. Chill, Louai… It's not the end of the world for you, time will pass and people will just ignore these things including YOU. lol.

Guys, you got give Louai credit for creating good logos.
Louai, I haven't seen any value in your International Awards. Dubai Lynx and MENA are only regional, and the Summut… let's not mention that..
You're a good designer and an excellent PR guy who can beautifully sell himself, full point.

Again you are trying to mislead people… joelapompe is a partner site of bloganubis and if what you are claiming was true (that my site is a copy) would we be partner sites (check the left hand side of his site – under partner sites you will see my blog) and also if what you are saying is true would he post comments on my blog ;) and would he send me his latest book (excellent by the way) with a personal dedication to me point taken?
As for the definitions of copy cat, lateral thinking, etc. have you noticed that the source of everything is mentioned on my site? Did you notice that as a Mentor I am stating the definitions so that you and others would understand the terminology behind the concepts?
In addition if you don’t think (and you really don’t) that I am not worthy of being an IAA board member then what can you do about it? May I suggest that you first become a member (I will approve your application) and in the upcoming election you can vote for someone else ;)
I never claimed to be the best or the only creative in the Kuwait Advertising Industry…if you read my comments on this same blog and others you would see that I actually praise work that deserves praising and enlighten others about copy cat ads…you do read? I mean read comments.
On a final note…remind me again who are you; oh I forgot I must be getting old…you are too chicken to reveal yourself to me so that I don’t get you fired and never get hired in Kuwait so enjoy being invisible :*

What The Maaan
hahaha u just tickled my fancy with your usuall un-orignal try-to-come-back comments..
Well here goes ur originality ! instead of coming up with a new concept of a blog .. you find a well established one, email them as the secretary general of IAA kuwait chapter (they don't have an idea how this organization sleeps) they say ok, THEN ITS OK TO COPY ? or imitate ! so if i copy an advert off of the same network, yet a different agency.. i am not copying ? i am not imitating ? off course we are partners .. yet !! i copied my partner *wink
About you and your IAA conspiracy theory.. we dont care, we dont care even if you reached as a president, all we care about is our work, our industry, and our clients..
but you ? who are you ? what if you are the sleeping beauty of IAA ? so what ? do you think you are worth the effort for us to join (1)as members of the IAA (2) vote for people who look down to the industry and (3) looked down upon without anything in return ?
do you read the word "idiot" on our heads ?
do i need to reveal myself ? do i really have to ? for what ? for you ? i do have the right to keep myself anonymous, by the way.. u do have that right as well, but your i understand your on a ego trip.. but wait let me remind you of something .. if you think your famous, and Hollywood level of stardom, think again.. go to cannes and lets see how famous are you .. no one will know you ! in this blog no one knows you..
yeah .. you should thank me and kre8tive, we are giving u such great publicity .. attention w4or3
