A total of 1364 entries from 16 countries have been submitted to this year’s Dubai International Advertising Festival, which kicks-off on Sunday. Dubai Lynx is the largest awards show celebrating creative excellence in MENA’s advertising and communications industry and the Festival will be attended by over 1000 delegates this year.

Entries have been submitted in 10 categories: TV/Cinema (159 entries), Print (300), Outdoor (233), Direct & Sales Promotion (94), Media (230), Radio (50), Interactive (83), Integrated (39), and the new TV/Cinema Craft (35) and Print Craft (141) categories. The entries will be judged by top international industry experts who will convene in Dubai at the weekend.

The top country participating is the UAE with 847 entries, followed by Lebanon with 142, Egypt on 124 entries, Saudi Arabia with 66 and Kuwait with 57.

“Honouring the best work and providing inspiration and motivation is paramount to agencies and their clients, especially during such an economic downturn. Despite an inevitable drop in the overall number of entries, we are delighted to still see growth in the Media category, a good start to the new Craft categories as well as a record number of attendees at the Festival,” said Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions, organisers of the event. “Dubai Lynx continues to be the largest awards in the region, the most sought after trophy to win and the premier industry event to attend.”

The winners will be announced and honoured during the Dubai Lynx awards ceremony and dinner held during the evening of Wednesday 17 March at The Palladium in Dubai, attended by 1,300 industry peers.

Other awards to be revealed during the Awards Ceremony are: Agency of the Year, Media Agency of the Year and the new Network of the Year. Saudi Telecom Company will be honoured with the 2010 Advertiser of the Year and Ramzi Raad, Chairman & CEO of TBWA\RAAD Middle East, will be presented with the prestigious 2010 Dubai Lynx Advertising Person of the Year Award.

To attend the Dubai International Advertising Festival or the Dubai Lynx awards ceremony and dinner, please register online at www.dubailynx.com.

Trafalgar, the official and sole distributor of Chopard watches, jewelry and accessories in Kuwait, has commemorated the 150th anniversary of the brand by launching a massive outdoor visual in Kuwait City. Located on the Nassar Tower that faces the historic Jahra round-about, the visual features a large Chopard logo alongside the brand’s iconic product, the Mark II Happy Sport.

The visual encompasses floors 3-25 of the tower’s 32-floor total, and holds a surface area of 2500 m2. This establishes it as the largest visual ever in Chopard’s 150 years of existence.

Mr. Amer Alansari, Trafalgar’s managing partner commented: “We were searching for a way to pay tribute to such an important milestone in Chopard’s long history. And we are honored by having found it near Kuwait’s important and historic landmark, the Jarha gate.”

Mr. Hugues Jucker, the Middle East and North Africa manager for Chopard adds: “
“The Kuwaiti market has been one of the first in the Middle-East to support Chopard in the early 70’s and still today is one the most important one in the region, particularly thanks to the excellent collaboration with the Al Ansari family. The huge Chopard visual on the Nassar Tower is the perfect way to celebrate Chopard 150th Anniversary, as well as our confidence in a promising future”.

About Chopard:
The company originated in 1860, in the small village of Sonviliers in the Travers Valley, set up by its founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard. In the year 1920, the company moved to Geneva, coming closer to its clientele. In 1963, Karl Scheufele, the son from a dynasty of German goldsmiths and jewellers, bought the Chopard Company and built it into a leading watch and luxury brand in the world, as it is known today.
Through time, the company has delivered some iconic collections including the first watch sporting the Happy Diamonds, which is now inextricably linked to the Chopard name. In line came the jewellery section being launched and the department of Haute Joaillerie. Also notable are the 1000 Miglia sport watches, named after the classic car rally of which the company has been a partner since 1988., as well as the exclusive L.U.C collection, a high end men’s watch line in which all parts of the movement and case are entirely produced by Chopard, making it a true “Manufacture”.

About Trafalgar:
Trafalgar is an internationally recognized luxury retailer with 15 specialized boutiques in Kuwait and over 38 years of operating expertise. From its humble beginnings in 1972, its operations continue to expand in the field of high-end products.
